What Every Parents Need to Know about Triggering a Child to Speak

You baby is one and a half year old, yet he still cannot communicate the way other kids do. You are wondering, should you worry about it or not?

The answer is that you need to pay more attention to this talking ability. No need to worry too much. What he needs is for you to take action.

It is good enough that you wonder what to do about it. That means you can spot a problem. There are some parents who deny it. They just think that their kid needs more time and there is nothing wrong with him.

That is not what a good parent should do. Good parents take action.

So, what to do?

First, give him more of your time for a baby-talking program. It only takes half an hour a day.

Sit with him. Go one-on-one. That way you can focus on each other. It is better if you do it when both of you are in a good mood, so he can absorb better.

Where?

Do it in a place where there is no distraction. No TV, radio, video or anything at all. And, avoid other people to get into the room.

Now, let’s get it done.

Talk the simplest way possible. Talk in short, simple sentences and do it slowly try pauses between phrases. For the first time, use only two up to four phrases. Repeat them again and again. Kids love repetition. It also eases him to follow what you say.

Use his interest. For example, he loves cars. Talk all about the cars. If your kid cannot even produce a sound, try ‘wrrmm…wrmmm…’ from the sound of a car. Make him say it after you. Let him feel the vibration of the sound in their mouth.

Then, beyond the half an hour a day, try to keep talking. He might not understand any of your sayings, but he can get used to the sound.
